The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has charged citizens in the region to put all differences aside in order to promote peace and tranquillity as Christmas approaches.

In a statement signed by the Minister and copied to A1 Radio, Mr. Yakubu urged all citizens of the region to take advantage of the blessings that accompany the season to demonstrate love to all persons regardless of their political or religious affiliations.

He emphasizes the need for citizens to shun religious, chieftaincy, land and tribal conflicts as those endanger the peace the country is currently enjoying.

“I should therefore be justified to call on all people of the region to share in the joy of the season by being grateful to God for His infinite love and blessings on our country Ghana. Let’s together fight for peace and avoid tribal, land, religious and chieftaincy conflicts”, portions of the statement read.

Mr. Yakubu went on to caution citizens to be extra careful especially given the fact that ‘prevalence of HIV/AIDs in some parts of the region is high’.

He also entreated the public to avail themselves of the COVID-19 vaccines and get themselves vaccinated in addition to observing the Safety protocols in order to minimize the spread of the Omicron variant.

He concluded by wishing all Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New year.
