Secretary to the Bolgatanga Butchers Association in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region, Timothy Yinbil has rubbished claims that they will not move to the newly built abattoir in the Yorogo community.

On December 28th 2021, a youth group within the butchers held a press conference saying that it will not make economic sense if they move to the new abattoir as over 250 of their jobs will be lost.

The group said the smoking of meat, which was their daily source of income would be greatly affected.

But reacting to the claims on A1 Radio, Mr Yinbil noted that the press conference held by the youth can not stop them from moving to the new abattoir as they as executives were not informed.

He added that so far as all butchers have agreed to the terms and conditions of the Municipal assembly in return for their concerns being met by the Assembly, they will move on the month of January 2022.

“As executives, we were not informed about the press conference and we are not buying into it. We have already agreed to move to the new abattoir, and that is what we will do. We the executives have agreed.”

He however called on the public not to pay attention to such a press conference as they are working on moving to the new abattoir.
