The Member of Parliament for Daffiama Bussie Issa (DBI) in the Upper West Region, Dr. Sabastian Sandari has supported the Issa Polyclinic with a 198 litre blood bank refrigerator for the storage of blood. This is expected to support the polyclinic as it prepares set to start surgeries.

Dr. Sabastian Sandari was optimistic that the operationalisation of the Polyclinic’s Theatre will save patients in the district the agony of travelling to other parts of the country for services that could have been provided in the area.

“We are excited that we can do it here in Issa, we can do it in Daffiama Bussie Issa. It is not all the time that we have to refer cases sometimes just because of lack of basic equipment. So I am happy to hand over this blood bank fridge to you,” he noted.

On his part, Dr. Ibrahim Issah, Medical Superintendent of the Issa Polyclinic expressed joy and on behalf of the management of the facility and thanked the Member of Parliament for the gesture.

He added that, the benefits of the Blood Bank refrigerator cannot be understated stressing that with the provision of the blood bank the theatre can begin to attend to obstetrics cases.

“The benefits of the blood bank refrigerator given to us, we cannot enumerate them as we stand and like you rightly said the theatre has been ready for quite awhile now and for the fear of the unknown sometimes you go in and people might need blood we had to put that on hold for some time. We are very happy and we hope that you will continue to give us a listening ear every time we cry for help. We promise to put it to good use, if you look at the District we are like the biggest referral facility now and it means that very soon we will begin to have obstetric emergency cases and the blood bank fridge is a very key component in addressing this challenge,” Dr. Ibrahim stated.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament also donated five (5) HP laptops to the Daffiama Bussie Issa District Health Administration with another laptop yet to come to help improve their data entry and boost their information management system.

“In health care delivery you know that health information management is paramount. Now, we are in an era of e-health where almost everything you need the computer to do it. So upon the request of the District Director of Health Services for Daffiama Bussie Issa to my office he made it clear that they will need some laptops to improve data capture and management, health insurance management and all the related areas that we need the computer to do, this is the response to that request to ensure that you capture your data very well, to ensure that you improve on your health care data management and drive towards achieving the dream of E-health. My office your Member of Parliament is donating these laptops to you to help especially the management of health insurance claims and other related issues” Dr. Sandari stated.

Madam Abdulai Slyvia, a Public Health Nurse at the DBI Health Administration who received the donation on behalf of the District Health Director, expressed their gratitude to the MP for the support and assured him that the laptops will be put into judicious use.
