A Former Tescon Coordinator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, Salahudeen Musah has declared his intentions to contest for the Regional Youth Organiser position. Mr. Musah’s target is to creatively address the many challenges within the party that prevented the party from winning more Parliamentary seats during the 2020 elections.

The party during the 2020 general election won only one parliamentary seat out of the 15 constituencies in the region. A situation that raises eyebrows amongst party supporters in and out of the region according to the Youth Organiser hopeful.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Musah noted that while efforts were made by the Regional Executives to win more seats, some glaring lapses needed to be worked on. He cited inadequate logistical support for party supporters was one of such lapses.

This, he said when given the nod to be the party’s Youth Organizer in the region, will be addressed with the swiftest of responses.

Mr. Musah further explained that more often than not, party supporters usually rely on their little resources to campaign for the party without any external support.

“It is about the party, and you do not expect one person to be doing all the work, using his/her little resources to campaign when we can all come together and do it with a united front. We need to look at how we can inculcate teamwork. We need to look at how we can provide party communicators with logistics that can aid their work effectively. We need to have that link amongst ourselves and that of our Southern brothers and sisters. That collectiveness ought to be there. It should not be a one-man thing”, he added.

He stressed that “our goal is to re-energize, transform, restore the spirit of volunteerism by creating equal opportunities for all, lifting your burdens and these are the necessary ingredients needed to restore hope and confidence in the party.”
