Member of Parliament for the Zebilla constituency Cletus Avoka has advised his contenders seeking to replace him in parliament to wait for him to finish the race with President John Dramani Mahama before they consider contesting for the seat.

According to the former majority leader in parliament it will be inappropriate for him to step aside for the president to complete his two times tenure as president

Mr. Avoka made this remarks in an exclusive interview with A1 radio on Wednesday after he filled parliamentary nomination form to contest and retain for the third time the Zebilla constituency seat.

Many are of the belief that the legislator who has been in parliament for over a decade should step aside and play as a role model for others who want to represent the constituency. However Mr. Avoka stated that parliament needs experienced hands to run its affairs and it will be unfair if experienced MPs like him step down for new faces.

“I know that every election you have a combination of old hands and new hands and if we the old hands decide to leave at the end of it what will happen to the new MPs will be a challenge to the legislature of this country” Mr. Avoka stated.

Speaking on his track record Mr. Avoka said he is committed to support the youth and almost ninety percent of his share of the MP’s common fund has been channeled to support the education of brilliant but needy students in the area.

The former interior minister added that about 200 youth in the constituency are scatted in the security services in Ghana.

Mr. Avoka is in the contest with the District Chief Executive for Bawku West, Simon Ayande Agbango, the former DCE of the area Alhaji Anaba Adam Moro and Adebilla Ebenezer Alumire.
