The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region, has broken ground for the construction of a three-unit classroom block and ancillary facilities at Baptist Primary School in Tindonsobligo.
The school complex which was awarded to a contractor on 22nd February 2022 is expected to be completed within six (6) months.
At a brief handing over ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive, Rex Asanga noted that the construction of the complex has become necessary due to the infrastructure deficit at the Baptist basic school over the years.
According to Mr. Asanga due to the situation, some of the pupils are have had to be relocated to a different location which is far from the main campus at Tindonsobligo.
“We came as assembly to put up three (3) classroom black to support the infrastructure challenge of the school. Currently, some of the pupils are been housed somewhere outside the school campus, so we decided that we have to add them three classroom block and other facilities so that all the children will be at one side for effective teaching and learning,” he said.
According to the outline of the project, in addition to the three classrooms, and ICT laboratory, a Head Teacher’s office, library, staff common room, storeroom, as well as a toilet facility will be constructed.
Meanwhile, the Bolgatanga Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Anne Estella who was at the ceremony, expressed gratitude to the assembly for responding to their long-standing predicament. She also charged the contractor to deliver quality work and also ensure he delivers within the timeline agreed on.
Anaba Atiah, who spoke on behalf of the Tindaana and elders of Tindonbiligo also appreciated the assembly for responding to a challenge in his community. He also noted that, the Tindonsobiligo community is always ready for any developmental project.
