The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has pledged to liaise with the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to address the demands of butchers operating at the new abattoir at Yorogo.

After the Butchers agreed and move to the newly constructed abattoir at Yorogo, the Butchers Association has since been demanding that the challenges facing them be addressed in order for them to have a successful operation.

According to the butchers, their concerns include the distance between the animal market and the new abattoir, a means of transporting processed meat to the market as well as their inability to utilize the installed machines in the facility.

When the Upper East Regional Minister visited the facility and interacted with the Butchers, he assured them of collaborating with the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to bring a lasting solution to their demands.

“So far I am happy. They [Butchers] have concerns and we look at it. The MCE agreed with me that, they are going to construct a road so that they will have two ways of coming in and two ways of going out. Because I think when we do that, it is going to improve and people may probably come here and set up other facilities which will help us,” he said.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive Rex Asanga who accompanied the region Minister to visit the abattoir is optimistic that all the challenges facing the butchers would be addressed in due course.
