Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo has expressed shock at how the NPP government has managed the economy despite “the overhyped economic management team” including the Vice President, Dr Mahamud Bawumia.

The MP, with a sad tune, said the country’s economy is already taken a huge dip expressing some pessimism whether the government has what it takes to remedy the situation.

Mr Adongo who spoke on Eyewitness News on Citi FM and was monitored by A1radioonline.com was however quick to suggest that one of the solutions was for the government, especially the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, “to stop the shoulder-high behaviour” and seek national consensus.

He said “despite the mess created by this government, it [the government] still doesn’t see that the economy is collapsing. They don’t want to admit that yes, they have failed Ghanaians big time. If not, why will the President continue renting luxurious planes for his voyages? They must begin to understand that Ghana belongs to all of us and that they are at their wit’s end.”

Touching on calls made by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo that Ghanaians should support his government through accepting the E-levy, Mr Adongo noted that neither the President none the Finance Minister has the moral right to make such calls because they have demonstrated enough to Ghanaians how unworthy they are in protecting the public purse.

He, however, stressed further that lack of prudence from the government is the main challenge in the country as despite the sinking economy the President still has a fondness for luxury.
