Philbert Nsoh wins Best student in Talensi with staggering aggregate 9 in 2020 BECE

For a District whose academic performance has seen an increase in the Basic Education Certificate Examination in recent times per the District Director of Education’s assertion, it is obvious that Philbert Nsoh from Balungu and others like him have contributed to the success of Education in the Talensi District.

Mr. Philbert Nsoh, a resident of Balungu Community under the Talensi District of the Upper East Region could not hide his joy when he was adjudged the Best BECE performing student in the 2020 academic year at this year’s Independence by the District Director of Education.

Speaking to A1 News after receiving his prize which included textbooks, Mathematical sets and other educational materials, he thanked His teachers at Fountain Gate International School and his family who he says has been a core girdle in helping him come this far.

According to him, even though covid 19 had disrupted the educational structure in 2020, he was determined and committed to achieving the success he has chalked for himself and also his schools and teachers proud.

He stated, “ I got this not by myself but by the grace of God and through self-determination and the way our teachers supported us but the lockdown also affected us and I said I must endure and aimed higher”.

He, therefore, advised students who are yet to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination to believe in themselves and not be scared of anything but most importantly take their studies seriously if they want to achieve excellent results.

Meanwhile, this year’s 6th March celebration organised in Tongo Primary School Park saw St. Theresa, St. Thomas and Santeng Sunrise Academy Primary Schools win 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Also in the Junior High School level, Christ the King School, Tongo girls Model School and Ellah Valley Academy won the 1st , 2nd and 3rd position respectively and for the second cycle institutions, Bolgatanga Senior High School were beaten by their rivals Tongo Senior High Technical School to clinch the first position.
