Promasidor Ghana, producers of quality dairy products across Ghana which includes Cowbell coffee, in partnership with World Vision Ghana has handed over two boreholes to Longo and Adeo communities.

Longo and Adeo communities are in Kandiga in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East region.

Until the provision of the boreholes, community members trekked long distances daily in search of potable drinking water which affected daily activities. Academic activities were adversely affected because school children were reporting to school late, This is because they had to spend hours in search of potable drinking water for their home before going to school.

Speaking at a joint handing over ceremony, Commercial Director of Promasidor Ghana, Samir SADAOUI said the initiative is under “Cowbell Impacting Lives Campaign” which is a community-based activity targeting deprived and vulnerable societies in the country.

According to Mr. Samir, the value of safe drinking water to humans cannot be underestimated hence the decision by the company and its partner, World Vision Ghana to provide these communities with clean drinking water.

“In the past two years, the Cowbell borehole project has been quite fulfilling. When we launched this project, it was because we believed that water is a basic necessity of life. The value of water can never be said to be emphasized. According to the UN Secretary-General, in the year 2020, over 2.2 billion people across the world lack access to safe drinking water. Unfortunately, there exists a significant percentage of Ghanaians who fall within this global estimate as we speak today. It is for this reason that Cowbell in partnership with World Vision Ghana has embarked on this and several other borehole projects to help address the issue of access to safe drinking water in some deplorable communities across the country.”

On the part of World Vision Ghana, People and Culture Director, Akua Mensah stated that her outfit was committed to providing safe drinking water to children and communities across Ghana over the years.

“The partnership with Promasidor Ghana has made it possible for both parties to make financial contributions and diligently exchange expertise and skills to successfully execute the drilling and construction of 11 boreholes across 6 Administrative regions of Ghana. These boreholes have been able to bring adequate and safe water services to over 940 women, 860 men, 790 girls and 710 boys. The boreholes that we are commissioning today will serve 310 women, 280 men, 200 girls and 170 boys in the Longo and Adeo communities.”

Mrs. Mensah said the partnership between World Vision Ghana and Promasidor Ghana remains a key factor in achieving the Sustainable Development goals in Ghana, especially the provision of quality water.

The Chief of Kandiga, Naaba Henry Abawine Amenga-etego II, on behalf of his community members expressed gratitude for the gesture. For him, water is life and for World Vision Ghana and its partner, Promasidor Ghana to construct two boreholes for his community is remarkable for him and his people.

Assembly Member of the area, Asaah Adamu Yakubu took the opportunity to appreciate the efforts made by the two partners for the provision of water to the residents.

Mr. Asaah appealed to World Vision Ghana and Promasidor Ghana to still have the community in mind since residents of other sections of the Electoral Area have to walk long distances in search of water.
