GIPC 2015 Outreach Programme Held in the Upper East Region

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Thursday held the 2015 edition of the annual Nationwide Investment Outreach programme in Bolgatanga.

This year’s event focused on regional sensitization tour in the upper east region and was designed to meet the local content requirement of the center’s investment promotion obligation.

The event brought together Ministers, Regional Directors, District and Municipal Chief Executives, Regional Economists, finance officers among others to identify and profile bankable projects in the various sectors.

Principal Investment Promotion Officer at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Dr. Richard Adjei said the programme was initiated to take effect across the 10 regions to identify for promotion and investment opportunities in each region and to as well undertake on the spot screening of companies for registration and one on one discussion with SME’s on pertinent issues faced in business.

He however pointed out that the investment outreach programme will pave way for deliberations with the regional coordinating council and other stake holders on how to attract the most appropriate investments into the region.

Dr. Agyei encouraged individuals and entities looking forward to expand their operations to introduce new strategies of achieving their business targets. According him there are good business opportunities for Ghanaian citizens across the country because foreigners are restricted from doing petty business, such as barbering, taxi driving, and retailing.

Upper East regional minister Hon. James Zuga Tiga called on the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) to identify some of the entrepreneurs in the upper east region and offer them the support they need to grow. He added that the region is blessed with many resources one could hardly find in some other regions. He intimated that assisting entrepreneurs engaged in small businesses with finance support will yield a good result for the region and the country at large.
