The Association of Sachet Water Producers in the Upper East Region has increased the prices of a bag of sachet water popularly called ‘pure water’ from Ghc 3.00 to Ghc. 4.00 with immediate effect.

The Association blamed the current increase in prices on the cost of production and the prices of raw materials. It explained that the factors aforementioned compelled them to increase prices so that their businesses can remain economically viable.

The Association, in line with the increase, has cautioned all sachet water producers to fully implement the current prices with immediacy.

The Chief Executive Officer of AquaBolg, Mrs. Humul Khrusum Tahiru, who spoke on the Day Break Upper East Show on A1 Radio said prices of every single unit needed for the production of the sachet water had gone up and therefore, it would only be business-wise that they adjust the prices.

She said that “it will not be a delight to just get up one day and increase your water just because you want to increase, your increment will deny some people the opportunity to get the water and so it is not pleasant for us but it has become necessary”.

She continued to say, “if you will be fair, we would have been selling water even at Ghc. 5.00 or more because of how expensive our raw materials and the items we use in producing the water are”.

Mrs. Khrusum Tahiru appealed to retailers and consumers to bear with the current prices so as to help them stay in business.
