The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo has reiterated the need for unity in the party ahead of the 2016 elections and hence the initiation of the “Rise and Build Tour” that has brought him to the upper east region.
The nationwide tour by the NPP flagbearer kicked off in the Volta region, proceeded to the Eastern region, Upper West region and currently in the Upper East region to meet and interact with the party’s support base, regional and constituency executives.
Addressing scores of party supporters and executives in Bolgatanga on Thursday, Nana Addo said the most important point of focus for the party is unity at all levels to trigger victory in next year’s election.
“We can win the 2016 election when we are united and become one people. The core aim of the NPP is to win power in 2016 to save the Ghanaian masses from the hands of the NDC government for making life a hardship for the people of Ghana” he stated.
He added that “the journey to victory in 2016 general elections has begun today in the Upper East Region with cooperation and unity among its members. That is why am here in the region to urge all parliamentary candidates, regional executives and constituency executives to cooperate and to come together if we are going to get to the promised land of victory in 2016. We have to tighten the knot of cooperation as the base of our party if we want to win 2016 and nothing will stop us as a party in winning 2016”
The party currently holds one seat in the region after the Talensi seat slipped back to the ruling NDC in the Talensi by-election. The flagbearer expressed optimism of sweeping over half of the total number of seats in the region.
“We are making a commitment that we are winning 8 seats out of the 15 seats in the Upper East Region. We cannot do that unless cooperation, unity, forgiveness, hard work and determination take center stage. I therefore charge all parliamentary candidates to lead the way to bring everybody together. Apologize to people you have offended and caused damage to them and say sorry to them and bring them on board so that we can get out there with the pictures of victory for 2016” he urged.
The New Patriotic Party according to him cannot afford to lose a single vote in the upper east region and with cooperation and hard work the party can make it in 2016.
