Sampson Tangobu, the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central has expressed disquiet about some of the comparisons made by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia during his public lecture at Kasoa.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show, the Navrongo Central MP said he was disappointed that the Vice President did not take the time to apologise to Ghanaians for his failed leadership and tact in managing the economy.

He continued to say that some of the comparisons that were made by the Vice President were misleading, disingenuous and inaccurate. Touching on the prices of fuel as mentioned by the Vice President, Mr. Tangobu wondered why the Vice President would compare only prices and refuse to compare the salary structures and income levels as well.

“My expectations were not met. Instead of him to, as I said, to apologise to Ghanaians and give us hope”.

“He brought prices and data from the UK and other things. What he refused to understand was that if he had compared the fuel prices in UK and he is saying they are the same as Ghana, then he must equally compare the salary structure,” he said.

Mr. Tangobu continued to say that “our problem in Ghana is that times are hard. We were expecting the Vice President to at least tell us some mitigating factors. What they are doing now”.

He said the Vice President’s insistence on blaming the entire economic meltdown on COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war was rather unfortunate.

Meanwhile, a Social Commentator and Executive Director of Northern Patriots for Research and Advocacy (NORPRA), Bismark Adongo Ayorogo has opined that while he believes that the Akufo-Addo led government may be committed to helping Ghana to develop, the President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia have very limited capacity and competency to properly manage the country.

He said this on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East after the Vice President held a public lecture on the economy.
