The Paramount Chief of Buru-Navio in the Kasena-Nankana District of the Upper East Region, Navio Pio, Pe Adam Kwarasey Asongojem Parijei Adurigola II is calling on Authorities who matter to go to their aid to fix the collapsed bridge that was broken by a vehicle carrying rosewood believed to have been entering Ghana from Burkina Faso through the Buru-Navio enclave.

Chief Adam Kwarasey II who spoke on Reporter’s Visit on A1 Radio, nothing significant has been done since the collapse of the only bridge that links these communities to help ease traffic,

He stated, “it’s true, nothing has been done to the bridge. Even as I speak to you, the car is still under the bridge, and our concern is that, that is the only main road for the district. You see, the highway to Burkina doesn’t belong to the District. This is the only road and, moreover, if there is a fire outbreak or an ambulance is needed, how can they perform?”

“We have Patrol teams, if there is an emergency they can’t go and they can’t come so if there is an attack or something like between Manyoro or Kandiga and then Sirigu if you don’t pass Navrongo you can’t go which is a threat to the area,” he stressed.

He explained that the Assembly members have been on the necks of the Assembly to go and fix the bridge but have not yielded any significant results only that, the Assembly has created a diversion that still cannot accommodate cars.

According to him, “even the diversion they came and cut, people cannot even pass through, the vehicles cannot pass there. If it rains today, the rain will just cut off because those using motorbikes it’s risky for them to pass there people are using that Road to go to Navrongo market and the cars cannot now pass there”.

He, therefore, appealed to authorities to go to their aid to help fix the bridge and help ease traffic flow on that stretch of road.

When the Bridge collapsed, in March the District Chief Executive Gerald Atoagye Assured residents that immediate steps were going to be taken to help them have access to the various communities across.
