UE: Ultramodern ICT facility worth Ghc300,000 handed over to Ataampuurum ‘A’ J.H.S

A private company, Helios Towers has constructed and handed over an ultramodern Information Communication and Technology (ICT) lab to Ataampuurum ‘A’ Junior High School in Sumburungo, a suburb of the Bolgatanga Municipality of Upper East Region.

Helios Towers, a leading telecom tower infrastructure company in Africa that enables mobile operators to roll out and enhance coverage has identified the Ataampuurum community and its basic school as an underserved community in the area of digitization. The company thus decided to step in and provide the school with an ultramodern ICT facility at a cost of Ghc300,000.00.

Speaking at a short handing-over ceremony, the Managing Director of Helios Towers, Fritz Dzeklo urged the community members and the school management as well as the students to well maintain the facility for future generations to also benefit from it.

“I want to entreat the community to maintain this facility so that the young ones will benefit from it. And to the young ones, [the school pupils] please take good care of this facility so that generations after you will benefit from it. We do not only do this intervention intense of promoting digital inclusion. We deliberately provide our infrastructure across the country to underserved communities like this,” he said.

The Project Manager, Thomas Adjei-Asamoah noted that the company will continue to support and maintain the power system of the facility for the effective operation of the lab. He also called on the school management especially the Teachers in charge of the ICT to report any abnormalities in the computers immediately to the company for assistance.

The facility is furnished with tables, chairs, Air Conditioners, fans et al. It has 3 sources of power; a solar power system, batteries and a connection to the national grid.

The Headmaster of the school, Hubert Bonkyena Tambil on behalf of the school expressed his profound gratitude to Hellios Towers for providing the school with the much-anticipated gesture. He noted that his outfit would be forever grateful for the gesture.

The Head Master also noted that the junior high school pupils actually do not have their own block. According to him, the structure currently occupied by the J.H.S pupils belongs to K.G pupils therefore the need for the additional black in the school. He, therefore, used the opportunity to appeal to the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, NGOs, and philanthropists to help support the school with classroom structures.

Chief of the area, Naba Aberise Clement Atogumboyinga who was represented by George Ayanore while appreciating the company for the gesture, assured Hellios Towers of good maintenance culture by community members in order for future generations to come and benefit the facility.
