Naara Rural Bank Celebrates 2015 Rural Banking Week

Naara Rural Bank in the Kassena Nankana West District has hosted the 2015 launch of the regional rural banking week celebration and biennial general meeting for the upper east chapter of rural banks.

The banking week celebration and biennial general meeting double as an opportunity for the rural banks in the region to assess their activities and challenges as rural banks over the period to deliberate on a way forward and how rural banks should improve upon rendering good services to its clients in the region.

Kassena Nankana West District Chief Executive Hon. George Nonterah commended Naara Rural Bank for its achievements which includes supporting the economic potential of its operational areas including Bolgatanga and Navrongo.

But aside praising the Naara Rural Bank for their achievements in the region, Hon. Nonterah advised the bank to improve in their capital base by attracting more clients and shareholders for the growth and the socio-economic development of the country.

According to him, Agriculture is the backbone of the livelihood of the people and the district has about 80% of its population engaged in Agriculture. He implored the bank to play key roles in mobilizing resources for Agriculture and Agro-businesses.

President of the Upper East chapter of the Association of Rural Banks (ARB), Alhaji Sheriff Adams said the purpose behind the establishment of rural banks was to create simple but flexible banking unit to meet the peculiar needs of predominantly small rural enterprises and to add as catalyst for socio economic development of the rural economy where 70% of the country population live.

General Manager of the Naara Rural Bank, Samuel Namoog also made a passionate request by calling on the DCE and other cooperate entities at the celebration to patronize made in Ghana local food and as well to always channel their fund through the rural banks.
