“We want to move from 1 seat to at least 7 in the Upper East Region.” The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo said this when he spoke to URA Radio as part of his day’s working visit to the Upper East Region.

The President was convinced that his wishes would be realised because of the many projects, policies and programmes being implemented by his government.

“The projects we have began, we will see them to fruition. To see the expansion of economic activities in this region. They are so many positive aspects for the Upper East Region and the larger economy of Ghana. We would see that grow so that the main aspects of our population are also sectors of robust dynamic growth.”

The President also gave the assurance that projects that have began under his tenure would be completed in due time.

Earlier, the President gave a strong indication the Upper East Region could become a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party in the coming years.

While admitting that it would not be an easy feat, the President was confident that it is a situation that is feasible.

President Akufo Addo said this when he spoke in an interview on GBC’s URA Radio and monitored by this website.

“You know we [NPP] do not do very well here. Whenever I come here, I feel very very encouraged; we should continue.”

“We want to make the Upper East Region another NPP stronghold. It is not going to be easy. You have to put your best foot forward,” he said.
