The Member of Parliament for Builsa South constituency, Dr. Clement Apaak is wondering why the President, Akufo-Addo is still talking about feasibility studies that are supposed to take place before the construction of the Upper East Regional Airport despite same that were carried out under the watch of former President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, the then government (NDC) was able to name the Sumburugu area as a suitable site for the facility. As such, feasibility studies were conducted. Failure to continue from where the previous party left off is a failure on the part of the current government. This is according to Dr. Apaak

“There is a special interest amongst some members within the government to establish the airport at their preferred place, the reason we are where we are.”

Dr. Apaaka made the comment on the Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio.

“I remember that during our time, Aviation Ministry was under the Ministry of Transport. Together with some technocrats, I was part of the team that visited the land. We concluded that the site was perfect. All the landlords were there and agreed to the terms. So, this recent rededication that we are looking for land and consultation, I’m surprised by this government.”

“Feasibility studies were done during our time. But I must say that what has sent us back to square one could only be some special interests by some persons within this government.”
