I have no interest in Binduri seat – Upper East Regional Minister dispels rumours

The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has dispelled rumours that he is whipping up interests and positioning himself to contest the primaries for the NPP in Binduri ahead of the 2024 general election.

Mr. Yakubu said this when he spoke to A1 Radio in a recent interview at his residence.

He said the rumours or conversations surrounding his purported interest may have begun people some interested parties may want him to represent the people of the area in Parliament.

“These are just rumours. I do not know where they are coming from. I am sure that people want me to go back there but I can tell you that for now, I do not think that now, it is on the table.”

Mr. Yakubu stated that his current focus is to ensure that he delivers on his current job.

“The President has put me here to work and that is what I am doing. I am concentrating on my job to make sure I turn the Upper East Region around. Also to make sure that people are happy with the development agenda of the government.”

The Binduri seat is currently occupied by the NPP’s Abdulai Abanga.
