The National Insurance Commission (NIC) in the Upper East Region as part of its annual activities has organised a blood donation exercise at the Bolgatanga Senior High School.

Speaking to A1 News about the exercise, the Upper East Regional Head of the National Insurance Commission, Ernest Osie Adofo said the exercise forms part of the insurance company’s nationwide annual activities.

Every year in August, NIC together with its partners organise blood donation exercises to help stock the national blood bank in the country. This is to ensure all-year-round availability of blood.

The exercise takes place in all the regional capitals across the country.

“The blood donation exercise this morning is being undertaken by all insurance companies in Ghana, including the National Insurance Commission of Ghana, and it is being done simultaneously across the country. In fact, the essence of the exercise is to help stock the blood bank at the various regional hospitals across the country.”

The NIC’s Regional Head Mr. Adofo also appreciated the management of the Bolgatanga Senior High School for giving for the collaboration.

“Fortunately, Bolgatanga Senior High School’s leadership agreed that we should have the exercise here, and I will say a big thank you to the head Master and his team and all the students for coming over with their numbers to take part in this donation.”

The Bolgatanga Branch Head of Quality Life Assurance Company Limited, Sandra Mensah and the Bolgatanga Branch Head of Priority Insurance Company Limited, Grace Ayamga both noted that the blood donation project by NIC is worth supporting because it is a gesture that is going to help the entire country.

The Officer in Charge of the blood bank at the Upper East Regional Hospital, Paul Yarko applauded NIC for the gesture. Mr. Yarko noted that the donation will go a long way to help his outfit as well as all health facilities across the region.
