The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu is asking for support from indigenes and non-indigenes resident in the Upper East Region.

Mr. Yakubu explained that, as a regional minister, while he may be in charge of spearheading the development agenda of the region, it will take collective effort to see that through.

This support he said, must be devoid of political, ethnic or religious differences. He said this when he spoke in a recent interview with A1 Radio’s Mark Kwasi Ahumah Smith at his residence.

“The president has put me here to work and that is exactly what I am doing. I am concentrating on my job to ensure that I turn Upper East Region around. To also make sure that people are happy with me and are happy with the development agenda that I am putting up.”

“The future is bright. I want to grow with everybody. I want to develop with everybody. I am listening to people. I make mistakes; I am a human being. I want us to work together for our common good.”

Mr. Yakubu continued to say that while he is open to criticism, people should criticise constructively.

“Let us stop this politics for now and work together. Criticise me when you need to but don’t criticise me because I am a Kusasi. Don’t criticise me because I am NPP. Don’t criticise me because I do not look handsome. Criticise me if I do something wrong and then suggest an alternative so that together, we can develop this region.”

Mr. Yakubu intimated that with general public support, the Upper East Region stands a great chance of rapid development.
