The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called out the New Patriotic Party for reneging on its “social contract with the people of the Upper East Region.” This is according to the NDC’s Talensi Constituency Communication Officer, Michael Nangena.

He made these comments in connection to the government’s inability to operationalize a single factory under the government’s One District One Factory. Mr. Nanagena spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.

“The NPP government has failed the people of the Upper East Region. They have not been able to keep to the social contract which they entered with the people of the Upper East Region in the 2016 election and the 2020 election,” he said.

Based on the failure of the NPP, Mr, Nangena believes the NDC should be given the opportunity to lead the country.

“They have failed because if you look at it, the policy focus has changed, to supporting businesses through proceeds from the EXIM bank. I expected the government to support existing businesses in the Upper East Region to expand and also employ more. Yes, I agree, if we are able to industrialise and produce enough, there would not be that much pressure on our cedi.”

Mr. Nangena said the government has chosen to further the course of Ghanaians and had rather indulged in corrupt practices.
