“If you ask the agricultural people; the Regional Directors, the District Directors, the Agricultural Extension Agents, they will tell you that things have improved. We now have white-collar people; highly educated people moving into farming. Why is Inusah Fuseini moving into farming?”
Peter Aymaga Ayinbisa, the Upper East Regional Director of Communication for the NPP said when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.
His comments were in support of the investments the government, has over the years, made toward the development of agriculture in the region.
Mr. Ayinbisa touted the viability of the government Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), Rearing for Food and Jobs (RFJ) as well as the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD). He stressed that no government in the fourth republic has shown more commitment to the development of the sector than the NPP has.
“This government has made farming to be very lucrative. Everybody is now rushing into commercial farming. Go and ask the number of acreages that people have increased from 2016 to now. Even though we complain that the cost of fertilizer is high, of course, people are still finding it right to venture into agriculture and they are making it,” he said.
