Prof. H. A Pufa, a lecturer at the University of Education Winneba, has called on government and stakeholders to invest into building of standardized sporting facilities in order to improve sports in the country.

He made this call at the closing ceremony of the annual in-service training for teachers of physical education and coaches of various junior and senior high schools in the Upper East region.

He noted that most of the sporting facilities used in the country are not of international standards and that plays a detrimental role in the performance of athletes during international games.

He opined that the government and other stakeholders should collaborate to provide every regional capital standard sports halls where all indoor sporting activities could take place rather than the sub-standard facilities which have always been used for sporting disciplines such as tennis and handball.

He added that the performance of Ghanaian athletes will soar if such facilities are provided in the country because it will help them to train on standard facilities like they will be using during competitions.
