Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane, the Member of Parliament for Nabdam Constituency in the Upper East Region has alleged that Frontier Healthcare Services Limited was awarded the contract to conduct coronavirus testing at the Kotoka International Airport before the company was incorporated.

Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane made the allegation on A1Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show on Tuesday September 27, 2022.

He was speaking on the Ghana Airport Company Limited inability to provide details of how much Frontiers Healthcare Services made from covid-19 testing at the airports.

The Ghana Airport Company Limited and Frontier Healthcare Service Limited partnered to offer coronavirus testing at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) via a test center within the immediate vicinity.

Pamela Djamson-Tettey in a statement said: “GACL is unable to confirm the amount of money derived from the COVID-19 testing because passengers paid directly to Frontiers Healthcare, providers of the service.”

She said she cannot disclose in accordance with section 10 of the Right to Information Act, 2019, Act 989.

Dr Nawaane who doubles as the Deputy Ranking Member on the Health Select Committee in Parliament said, “Frontier Company right from the beginning has been a company even before they were incorporated, they had been given that contract, they didn’t go through the Regulatory Authority’s, they started operations before they try to undergo the proper laws that govern that aspect.”

He added that “we heard that behind that company was a man who is related to the higher authority and so it appears that it was something that was carried out when we have Noguchi and other well organized scientific organizations that could have carry out the same duty.”

He said the NDC filed many questions on Frontiers in parliament and the questions never go anywhere because “we don’t even know which particular ministry is supposed to come and answer.”

The Nabdam MP says there are so many things that are not done rightly under the NPP.
