Should delegates elect Augustine Guure as Talensi Constituency Secretary, he plans to implement a welfare programme to assist party members at the constituency level.

Speaking recently on the Day Break Upper East Show, Mr. Guure said that because of a lack of funding, party officials in the district found it challenging to support local party members. However, Mr. Guure claims that the shortage of funding is the result of the former constituency secretaries’ lack of innovation.

“It has never existed and I will tell you why. Since 1992, there have been past leaders who have mounted the secretariat. They have always been quick to open accounts, assign signatories and the only time you see funds in these accounts are electioneering periods. The administration is run by soliciting and appealing for funds all the time. People are becoming sick and tired of that old system of managing the party.”

“As an administrator, if for nothing at all, there should be a revolving fund that helps in operationalizing the administration. There are funerals and there are emergency cases and at all times, when these cases come to you, that is when you begin to take actions, that is when you begin to solicit for funds from party members,” he explained.

According to Mr. Guure the creation of a revolving fund, completely eliminates the idea of all running to party members to raise funds to support other party members.

Additionally, Mr. Guure hopes to make the party office a vibrant place where party members would be employed to manage the day to day affairs of the party.

He is contesting against 4 other people.
