The Kassena-Nankana Municipal Health Director, Benson Azure Nsoh has expressed a high level of worry about the mobility of health staff in the area.
The Kassena-Nankana Municipal Health Director said many health workers are using their own means of transport to get into some communities as far as Naaga for sensitization and immunisation.
Speaking to A1 Radio’s David Azure Mr. Nsoh said the situation is currently affecting smooth and effective health care delivery. He has called on the government and stakeholders to go to the aid of the health directorate by supplying them with some motorbikes for effective community engagements.
“You know the health work, one principal thing is engagement of the community members and it is very key among the work we do. So motorbikes are key in this, Naaga for instance, most of the staff are using their own personal motorbikes, so when it comes to visiting homes, it is always a problem. If we can actually get official motorbikes for this community engagement and home visits, it will help us a lot. But for now, that is the level of sacrifice we are going through to serve our clients.”
The Kassena-Nankana Municipal Health Director also raised a concern about the low level of community members’ involvement in assisting health workers in organising community engagement activities. Mr. Nsoh has therefore called on community members within the Kassena-Nankana Municipality to support health workers for effective health care delivery at the various communities.
