Ghanaian celebrity Boxer Ayitey Powers has said the loss of Boxing coach Godwin Nii Asani Quartey popularly known as Aloway to death is a big blow for the country and the sport of boxing.
According to him, the coach was one of the few coaches in the country who sought the welfare of all boxers.
“Coach Aloway will always call me when I have a bout and advise me as to what I should do to carry the day. Even when I was going to meet Bukom Banku the second time, he called me to advise me on the approach to use. This is done by a few coaches and that was what Aloway was known for.”
Ayitey Powers noted that the coach has produced a host of world champions including Joshua Clotey and Kingkon Agbeko and his demise is a big blow to the future of Ghana boxing.
He added that coach Aloway was a truthful coach who never cheated his boxers and he will be missed by all in the boxing fraternity.
He was of the view that it was going to take the country and especially the boxing fraternity some time to get someone dedicated to the sport like coach Aloway.
Ayitey Powers impressed upon the boxing fraternity to get involved in showing their last respect to the legendary coach for his contribution to boxing in the country.
