66th Independence Day celebration: Bawku West District Director of Edcuation appeals for support from government

The District Director of Education for the Bawku West District, Timothy Yuornuo has called on the government to go to the aid of the district, as far education is concerned. 

He made this call on the government at the 66th independence day parade that took place on Monday 6th March, 2023 at the Zebilla Primary School park.

He said though they have recorded some successes, the challenges they are confronted with is somewhat overwhelming.

The District Director of Education took the opportunity to commend the various schools and staff for their efforts in ensuring that students get the best of education in the area.

He highlighted the challenges, which included inadequate infrastructure, inadequate furniture amongst many other challenges. 

The occasion was attended by the DCE of the area, Issahaku Ahmed Tahiru who used the opportunity to reiterate the government intentions to work to relieve the area of the many challenges. 

He also called on the teaching staff to continue to put their best and not relent on their efforts in teaching.

In attendance were the former MP for the area, the District Police Commander, the Ghana Immigration Service, and some personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces.

In all, 28 public and private schools took part in the parade to mark the Indepence Day. The crowd also witnessed a match pass by members of the two major political parties, the NDC and the NPP amidst boos and cheers.
