Only mischievous people underrate my achievements – Dr. Ayine

Individuals, especially, some members of the New Patriotic Party who continue to underrate the performance of Dr. Dominic Akuretinga Ayine as Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency are not just being mischievous but also dishonest. This is according to the MP.

The New Patriotic Party’s Upper East Regional Youth Organiser, Salahu-Deen Musah Al-Khomeini after a unity walk in the Bolgatanga East constituency, took a swipe at Dr. Ayine, describing him as “incompetent” for his “failure to complete a stalled library project,” including many stalled projects.

But in a response, Dr. Ayine said he can be counted among the best-serving MPs coming from the Upper East Region because of the many projects dotted across the Bolgatanga East Region, and anyone who tries to downgrade his achievement is being mischievous.

“Those who seek to underrate what I have achieved are basically being mischievous. Because if you take all the surveys that have been conducted from 2013 up to today, I am always one of the best-performing MPs from the entire Upper East Region,”he stated.

The Bolgatanga East MP was speaking to the media shortly after he submitted nomination forms to contest the NDC parliamentary election.
According to Dr. Ayine, the NPP government had starved all NDC members of funds that denied them from continuing with projects in their constituencies.

He said under the NDC in power, certificates for payment of work done on the library project were presented and funds were released from the funding agency, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. However, the funds stalled when the NPP took over the helm of affairs of the country, thereby denying the people of Bolgatanga East a library project.

“And you know that the GNPC as a statutory corporation is an arm of the government of Ghana. When the NDC was in power, certificates were presented and payments were made for the library to continue and then we lost power in 2016. In 2017, only one certificate was paid by the GNPC and the library has become a white elephant. I am praying that the Lord Almighty will see the downfall of the New Patriotic Party in 2024 and that in 2025, John Mahama and his government will complete the library”
Regardless of the starvation of projects the minority MPs are suffering under the Akufo-Addo-led government as alleged by Dr. Ayine, he said all electoral areas of the Bolgatanga East constituency are “littered with major projects” under his able leadership.
Dr. Ayine who is serving his third term as MP was first elected in the 2012 general elections, being the first MP of the Bolgatanga East constituency that was curved out of Bolgatanga Central.
