A total of nine people picked up forms with the intention of contesting the upcoming primaries for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Talensi constituency of the Upper East Region.

They are Atiah Martin Aduko, Rockson Aditiba, Dickson Kurug Kpelim-Etime, Mahama Dung Daniel, Daraan Nathaniel and Kugre Nicholas Takuze. The rest are Zinekena Solomon, Awunnore Edward and Peter Badimak Yaro.

The current MP, Benson Tongo Baba, decided to discontinue his interest in the position recently.

After the process for the filing of nominations closed, there were however only 8 who succeeded in going through. This was communicated by the Constituency Communication Officer for the NDC, Michael Nangena.

“At the end of the deadline for filing nominations for the Parliamentary election, which elapsed today, Wednesday, 22nd March, 2023 at 5:00pm , the following aspirants have successfully filed their nomination forms with the Constituency Election Management Committee.”

“Their names are by order of their filling: Mr. Dickson Kurug Kpelim-Etime, Mr. Peter Badimak Yaro, Mr. Zinekena Solomon TTB, Mr. Awunnore Edward, Mr. Rockson Aditiba, Mr. Daraan Kugre Nathaniel, Mr. Atiah Martin Aduko, Mr. Daniel Mahama Dung.”

“Leadership would like to use this opportunity to congratulate all of them for making it to the next stage of the process. Any further development would be duly communicated to you all,” the statement copied to this website read.

The reason for Kugre Nicholas Takuze’s inability to file nominations is not immediately known.
