Isaac Adongo, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central constituency, is unopposed in the NDC’s primaries.

Ahead of the close of nominations, the only contender, Thomas Akrugu, pulled out of the race.

Mr. Adongo joins Lydia Akanvariba Lamisi, Member of Parliament for Tempane, and Dr. Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South, as sitting MPs who would go through the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) primaries without any contender.

After 58 NDC faithful picked up forms to show their interest in becoming parliamentary candidates for the 15 constituencies in the Upper East Region, only 50 successfully filed their nominations.

The total number of candidates in the Talensi, Nabdam, Bongo, Navrongo Central, et al., has decreased.

It will be recalled that when Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, the Upper East Regional Communication Officer, spoke to Mark Smith on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, February 28, 2023, he explained that the huge number indicates the growth of interest in the NDC.

“You see the number? It shows you the party has become attractive. People have interest in the party,” he said.

When Mr. Salifu spoke on the same platform today, March 23, 2023, he mentioned that all was set for the vetting process to begin.
