The Member of Parliament for Builsa South Constituency, Dr Clement Apaak, has provided financial support to 236 brilliant but needy students in the area.

According to the MP, the future of the youth depends largely on education; hence, he will do anything within his power to support them.

He has instructed the district assembly to release an amount of two hundred and ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 210,000.00) from the MP’s common fund and disburse it to the beneficiaries.

“I have asked the assembly to release an amount of two hundred and ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 210,000.00) from the MP’s common fund and disburse it to the attached list of two hundred and thirty-six (236) brilliant but needy students from the Builsa South District.”

He further indicated that “Out of the total number of successful applicants (236), one hundred and ten (110) are females, while one hundred and twenty-six (126) are males. All the beneficiaries are students in tertiary institutions across the country.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, one hundred and seventy-one (171) beneficiaries are university students, while sixty-five (65) are studying in colleges of education, nursing training colleges, and other institutions.”

Speaking about the distribution method, the MP noted that each university student has allocated  Ghc1,000.00, while students in Colleges and other institutions will receive Ghc600.00.

“To ensure fairness and to extend this much-needed support to as many students as possible, each university student has been allocated one thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc1,000), while students in colleges and other institutions have been allocated six hundred Ghana cedis (GHC 600) each, as indicated in the attached thirteen paged list.

He, therefore, wished the Assembly would process the disbursement as soon as possible to the beneficiary students.

“Given the current economic conditions in Ghana and the associated challenges students are facing with regards to funding their education, it is my prayer that the processes are fast-tracked to ensure that students are able to continue with their education.”
