NDC primaries: Bongo, Navrongo, Nabdam constituencies were difficult to predict – Abdallah Salifu

The Upper East Regional Communication Officer, Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, has confessed that the NDC’s just concluded primaries were intense in some constituencies and nearly impossible to forecast the outcomes.

Mr. Salifu mentioned the Bongo, Nabdam, Chiana-Paga and Navrongo constituencies as four of those where it was nearly impossible to predict who would win before the results were announced.

He said this when he spoke to Mark Smith on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today.

“At the regional level, there were some constituencies where we knew that until the last ballot was counted, you could not tell who would win. There is evidence to support the fact that our guesses were right. The contest was so close that you couldn’t tell who was winning. Bongo was an example. I think Nabdam, from where we sat and what we were seeing and hearing, thought it was going to be extremely close, but I think the results proved many people wrong. In a place like Navrongo, we knew it was a very close area. Chiana-Paga, yes, another close area. Our predictions were right.”

The Upper East Regional Communication Officer for the NDC explained that for Talensi, where eight individuals contested the election, “anybody stood the chance of winning. But we knew the contest was among a few people, one of whom won. It was the gap, the difference in votes, that came as a surprise to some people.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Abdallah Salifu, in an earlier statement copied to this website, commended the delegates for reposing confidence in the former President, John Dramani Mahama.

“The Upper East Regional Communication Bureau congratulates H.E John Dramani Mahama for having been elected flagbearer and leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and all fifteen (15) parliamentary candidates elected in the just ended presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, the 13th May, 2023. We commend all who contributed to the success of the elections in the region. The process was highly successful due to your hard work and diligence, and we encourage you to continue this selfless service to rescue our nation from the clutches of the clueless and incompetent Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.”
