Breaking the 8 is not a joke – Miracles Aboagye

“We’re very clear in our minds that we want to win a third term, and we are not playing. Sometimes people think when we say we are breaking the 8, we are playing. We are not playing.”

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a Presidential Staffer in charge of Local Government and Decentralization, made these comments when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, May 24, 2023.

Mr. Aboagye explained that the New Patriotic Party is confident it will win the next general election because of the extent of work that has been done under this government.

“We are not simply saying it because we are a government. We are showing work for it. That is why we are here talking about 150 million dollars of the SOCO project. We are going to show the people why they should vote for us,” he said.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made breaking the 8-year cycle of change in governance a major goal. The NPP has outlined a number of policies and programs that it believes will help it break the 8. These include continuing to improve the economy, investing in infrastructure, and fighting corruption.

The NPP is confident that it can break the 8 and remain in power after the 2024 elections because of what it describes as a strong track record of achievement, and a clear vision for the future of Ghana.

According to Mr. Aboagye, the NPP remains the most well-organised political party in Ghana and probably in Africa, adding that the party has a strong grassroots network.

The NPP is, however, facing a strong challenge from the NDC, which is led by former President John Mahama.
