Reverend Kwabena Atogpeelige, the head pastor of Jesus Spanner Miracle Church, and five others have been fined a combined total of GHc 15,000 and given seven days in jail for assaulting a 5-week-old baby during church service, according to District Magistrate Mawukoenya Nutekpor of the Bolgatanga District Court.

The six defendants have admitted guilt to the accusation of physically abusing the baby, the judge stated in his ruling to the court.

The woman who was seen swinging the infant in the video will pay GHC 3,000, and the pastor’s wife will also pay GHC 2,400, the judge remarked. The two ladies will each pay a fine.

However, the Judge suggested that the three individuals, including the head pastor, would also be required to pay a fine of GHc 2,400 apiece and serve a week in Navrongo Prison.

But he went on to say that the two ladies were spared prison time because they were nursing two infants under the age of two.
