The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Talensi District, Thomas Duanab Wuni Pearson , who has picked a nomination form to contest the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries, is optimistic that a ticket of him and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, will yield positive results.

According to him, it was possible to win the Talensi seat for the NPP, which has been presumed to be a seat for the National Democratic Congress due to the number of years it has held the seat.

The District Chief Executive made these remarks when he was speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East show with Mark Smith.

He noted that the NPP has made some gains in the Tanlesi constituency as it has constantly increased the number of votes for the party; this, he observed, was due to hard work.

The DCE, however, chastised aspirants of the National Democratic Congress for engaging in vote buying in its just-ended Parliamentary primaries, bemoaning that “vote buying is an African problem”.

By the act of the NDC aspirants in the constituency, as he alleged, “a standard has been set for the NPP to follow suit, especially now that the party is in power. It was the delegates’ expectation that they would also benefit from some cash,” he said.

Mr. Wuni Pearson said he would be happy if delegates considered the ideas of aspirants superior to monetary inducements.

The NPP parliamentary aspirant said he was, however, committed to supporting whoever emerges as the winner in the primaries to capture power for the NPP come 2024.

He noted with concern that some comments expressed by NPP presidential aspirants were uncalled for and unhealthy for the party in its quest to “Break The 8”.
