Alhaji Otito Achuliwor, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) hopeful parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central constituency, is confident about reclaiming the parliamentary seat in the 2024 election if chosen to lead the party at its primaries.
Speaking at the party’s Navrongo office after submitting his nomination form, Alhaji Otito urged delegates to vote for him, emphasising his commitment to wrest the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In the 2020 parliamentary election, Sampson Tangombu Chiragiaa of the NDC secured victory with 26,947 votes, while Madam Tangoba Abayage of the NPP garnered 15,821 votes. Additionally, Madam Susana Agoriba Kubirizegah of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) obtained 503 votes out of the total valid vote cast of 44,343.
Navrongo Central is recognized as a swing seat, but Alhaji Achuliwor asserts that he is the most viable candidate capable of transforming the constituency into an NPP stronghold, considering the party’s keen interest in the seat. He urges delegates to choose him to uphold the NPP’s pride on December 7, 2024.
“Navrongo Central is one of the constituencies that has a mark in the NPP in Ghana. Everybody from the Jubilee house up to the national headquarters has their eye on Navrongo. I will shine their eyes and let them be proud that Navrongo Central is an NPP stronghold. As I keep saying, I am ready for 2024 that is why I am telling the delegates to vote for an MP and not parliamentary candidate. If you vote for a parliamentary candidate you will not get the seat but if you vote for an MP he will definitely go to Parliament and represent by taking the seat.”
Alhaji Otito said, after being confirmed to represent the party in the election he will quickly partner with all constituency Executives to set up what he called “Constituency reconciliation committee.”
He noted that this committee will help bring the entire party members in the Constituency together in order to iron out their differences. Alhaji Otito makes it clear that the party in the Constituency came out from the 2020 election ununited hence the unity of the party must return ahead of the election.
“The most important thing for us to be able to take the seat, is for us to unite coming wounded from the 2020 election” He stated.
After a successful filing, the election committee Chairman in the Navrongo Central constituency Mr. Richard Kudamo urges Alhaji Otito to run issues based campaigns devoid of attacks and insults.
