UCC-DESAG wins 9th Edition of A1 Radio’s Corporate Invitational Tournament

The Bolgatanga branch of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Distance Education Students Association of Ghana (DESAG) has won this years A1 Radio Invitational tournament in its debut.

After a fierce battle of skills and a display of dexterity and tactical prowess with AFRIKIDS, which ended goalless in the full time of play, they thrashed out AfriKids on penalties to emerge as winners.

Other winners at the tournament included GNAT, who emerged as winners in the CEOs and ladies penalty shootout competitions.

The tournament, with sponsorship from Lawson Herbal Center, Twellium Industrial Company, Aquabolg, and Canye Electronic Home Defense, among others, had eight participating Teams.

This excluded A1 Radio FC and Aquabolg, who played the ceremonial opening game. A1 Radio beating AquaBolg 30. 

Participating teams included the Ghana Police Service (GPS), who came as the defending champions, Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS), Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), AfriKids, Volta River Authority (VRA), Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), University of Cape-Coast Distance Education Students Association of Ghana (UCC-DESAG), and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), who could not make an appearance.

The General Manager of A1 Radio, William Nlanjerbor Jalulah, speaking at the event, noted that the tournament was meant to create networking and build relationships among institutions.

It was also to offer an opportunity to corporate bodies to unveil some of their products to the general public.

The event that took place at the Mobil Astroturf Park in the Bolgatanga Municipality had zealous spectators parked to capacity who keenly monitored the fun games with undivided attention. 

Former Black Star goalkeeper and now goalkeepers coach for the National U-20 mens team (Black Satellite), Fatawu Dawuda, who passed by to witness the event, advised young players to be disciplined on and off the pitch to enable them to attain greater heights.
