U/E Regional Minister Tours Bolgatanga Market

The Upper East Regional Minister Hon. Albert Abongo on Wednesday embarked on a familiarization tour of the Bolgatanga new market and to ascertain the progress of work on an ongoing 4 faced building project in the Market.

The tour marked his first visit to the Bolgatanga new market since his assumption to office as the Regional Minister in February.

Addressing the media after the tour, Hon. Abongo expressed delight at the ongoing construction work which according to him is progressing significantly and the quality of job done so far by all the key stakeholders.

The construction of the ultra-modern structure which will house shops in the market is a collaborative venture which includes the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Beneficiaries and the Contractors. According to the regional minister, the Public Private Partnership (PPP) programme allows developmental projects in any part of the world today. He also appreciated the stakeholders in the new market construction project for putting their resources together to give Bolgatanga market a facelift.

The Bolgatanga municipal assembly has commenced a roads project in the market to enhance accessibility including toilet and water facilities to solve the sanitation problems and as well street lighting to tackle the security problems in the market.

Hon. Abongo also charged the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive Philip Aboore to make sure that the ordinary market women are not left out in the ongoing project and after the completion of the 4 faced building project.

He further assured of a continuous support from his office to the ongoing market project.
