The leadership of the Talensi youth parliament in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region has called on youth groups, opinion leaders, and residents in the area to unite in order to foster development.

According to them, how well they are able to coordinate as a people with a common voice has a greater influence in deriving development in the area by commonly advocating for the advancement and improvement of their living conditions.

The leadership revealed this when they spoke to Mark Smith on A1 Radio`s Daybreak Upper East show in line with their next sitting on Thursday, September 21, 2023, with the District Chief Executive to discuss developmental issues in the area.

The speaker of the youth parliament, McCarthy Konzabre, reinstated that the youth parliament is neither a pressure group nor aligned with any political party but operates on the principles of a recognized parliament, mainly to emancipate the development drive of the district.

He noted that though it may not have the financial muscle to undertake major development projects on its own, the idea is to advocate for development, and this requires the collective effort of all people in Talenteng.

The Speaker recounted that the district is bedeviled with several developmental challenges, including security threats and youth unemployment, among others, and it is important they unite to address these major hindrances.

The minority leader, Kpelim-Etimo Maxwell, emphasized that the Talensi youth parliament is the only recognized youth parliament inaugurated in 2001 and has been working tirelessly to champion development in the interest of all.

He called on all youth groups to come on board with their ideals so they can together foster the development they desire to see in Tanleteng.
