The Upper East Regional Communication Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, has asserted that the resignation of Alan Kyerematen from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a big blow to them going into the 2024 elections.

According to him, the NPP is only pretending to undermine the impact of Alan`s exit on the party just to motivate themselves, but in reality, they are so disturbed.

“NPP may downplay the effect of Alan`s independent candidature for their own sake because we all know that sometimes, no matter how you are feeling the pain, you might not want to cry before your in-laws, and that is the simple way they are behaving because they are feeling the pain, but they don`t want people to know that the exit of Alan is actually a big blow to them”, he stated.

Mr.Abdallah added that “I know the demeanor of Justin Kodua Frimpong, who is the general secretary of the NPP, and when you look at his demeanor yesterday, you will get to know that the man was down in spirit because Alan is not just an ordinary person, but he is a force in the NPP.”

The communication officer made this assertion when he spoke to Mark Smith on the A1 Radio Daybreak Upper East show about Alan`s exit and its impact on the NPP going into the 2024 elections.

He reflected that the tradition of the NPP has always been “first come, first served,” and now President Akufo Addo, used that to his advantage when he was contesting as flagbearer for the party against Alan Kyerematen.

Responding to this assertion, the Upper East Regional Deputy Communication Officer of the NPP, Andrew Atariwini, stated that Alan`s exit from the party was not only unfortunate to the party but also to his personal political record as a founding member of the NPP.He said Alan`s contributions to the NPP cannot be undermined and called on members of his party to be decorous in the manner in which they react to his resignation.

Mr. Atariwini, however, indicated that Alan`s resignation would save the party of his possible outburst and complains to enable it strategies properly to capture power in 2024.
