Isaac Adongo, Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central has taken a swipe at Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, suggesting that his knowledge on digitalization came from studying Yahoo.
The MP who accused Dr. Bawumia of improper academic pursuit of knowledge of digitalization added that the Vice President who was appointed in 2011 as a Resident Representative of the African Development Bank for Zimbabwe, took the inflation of Ghana to an “incalculable level”
Buttressing his point, the Bolgatanga Central MP said regardless of the Vice President’s economic experience for over 30 years, he has mismanaged the Ghanaian economy under his watch as Head of the Economic Management Team, and now veered his attention to digitalization which he studied “on the internet for two days”
“You took inflation to over 1000 percent. You worked at the Bank of Ghana, for many years in economies, over 30 years. This is what you delivered. The digitalization you learned on the internet for two days, that is what you can deliver? How can you do Yahoo digitalization? So, Bawumia, come back to the economies, we want you there. But when you come, we will have a conversation. We will not allow you to escape into any digitalization”
He made the comment over the weekend while addressing members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Region when the Bolgatanga Central constituency executives organised a health walk.
Still, on the economy, Mr. Adongo also lashes out at the Vice President’s handling of the economy which he said has reduced the image of Ghana to a country of mockery.
“The last time they said that they were better managers of the economy, they disgraced us. Around the world, we are now being teased. When they mentioned Ghana, they mentioned Sri Lanka and Suriname. Those were our colleagues but thanks to Bawumia, our colleagues are far from us”
He added that Dr. Bawumia and managers of the country’s economy had “lied” to officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that Ghana, in its pursuit of financial support, was in a discussion with countries that lent money to Ghana for mercy without proof of bankruptcy certificate.
“The IMF said you came and said that you will go and beg the people who lend you money to forgive you, but you haven’t brought the bankruptcy certificate. So, go and collect the bankruptcy certificate, hang it on your neck, and come so we give you 600 million. Do you celebrate a man of fraught?”
This claim by the vice president, according to Mr. Adongo was fraudulent. The health walk was attended by personalities including the former Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Okaikoi North in the Greater Accra region, Theresa Lardi Awuni, Kumbungu MP, Hamza Adam, National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka, Ruth Dela Seddoh, Deputy National Youth Organizer.
Other dignitaries present include former and present regional and constituency executives, former government appointees, and parliamentary candidates among others.
