Maxwell Aburiya, the Bolgatanga Central Constituency Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has fulfilled a campaign promise by providing polling station executives with identification cards.
During his campaign to be elected as the Constituency Organizer, Mr. Aburiya pledged to streamline the party’s grassroots operations by ensuring that every polling station executive has proper identification.
“During our constituency elections in 2022, I promised every polling station executive an ID card if voted into office. But then, I had started providing the Electoral Area Coordinators with the ID cards before the election, to reaffirm my position that when I am voted as the Constituency Organizer, I will fulfill my pledge.
That’s exactly what I have just done by providing every polling station executive with an ID card. We have 148 polling stations in Bolgatanga Central constituency and 27 electoral areas. We have 740 polling station executives and 27 Electoral Area Coordinators, making the number 767”, he stated.
Mr. Aburiya emphasized the importance of proper identification for party members at the grassroots level.
“The reason behind this policy is that, if you are a party officer, you should have something to back it. In case you travel out of your constituency and it happens that you meet a party bigwig, how do you introduce yourself to the person that you’re polling station executive or coordinator in our great party? I think this card will serve as polling stations executives’ identity card because this card will tell who you are at the polling as a member of the New Patriotic Party”
The Constituency Organizer recounted how a TESCON certificate was a basis of identity for a stalwart of the party “when others wanted to deny him an appointment by accusing him of not being a member of the NPP”
“The card can serve as a vehicle to save our executives from losing a job like in the case of the bigwig”, Mr. Aburiya stated.
The ID card has the name of the executive boldly written, a photo of the cardholder, designation, name of Electoral Area, and name of the polling station. Mr. Aburiya added that the provision of the ID cards will serve as a catalyst to rebrand the party in the constituency to win the 2024 elections.
“I promised our respected delegates that if I am given the nod as the Constituency Organizer, I will REBRAND the constituency by making it attractive for our opponents to join the party and that is exactly what am doing”
In a statement to A1 Radio, Mr. Aburiya thanked all the executives for their unwavering commitment to the NPP’s principles and values with a promise to work closely with the party members especially the grassroots for a resounding victory for the Parliamentary Candidate for Bolgatanga Central, Elvis Figo Awonekai Atiah and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 elections.
