The incumbent Member of Parliament for Binduri, who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Abdulai Abanga, and his other contender, Alex Joseph Avoka, a Parliament Candidate aspirant, have both been vetted ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) constituency primaries in the area.

They were both vetted at the party’s regional office in Bolgatanga.

In the previous election, Abdulai Abanga emerged as the victor with a commanding 332 votes, whereas Alex Avoka Joseph trailed behind with a distant 68 votes, and the third contender, John Atubiga, secured 14 votes.

The incumbent, Hon. Abdulai Abanga, is relying on his track record and experience in representing the constituency.

According to his supporters, his accomplishments based on development projects, advocacy for constituents, and active participation in parliamentary affairs are his added advantages.

Monitoring comments on various social media platforms, they indicated that their candidate is the only one who can lead the party to victory come the 2024 elections; hence, to them, there is no need to bring in a new face.

On the other side of the spectrum, Alex Avoka Joseph is a businessman who deals in gold and is determined to turn the tide in his favor.

His campaign messages, according to his supporters, also emphasize issues of development and innovative solutions to address the evolving needs of the Binduri constituency.

With the election day scheduled for the 27th of this month, the political ambience in Binduri is charged with anticipation.

Residents from far and near would be closely following the campaigns and eager to witness the outcome of this intense battle between the incumbent and the former contender, as the Binduri constituency is the only seat won by the NPP during the 2020 elections.
