In recent times, the term “New Force” has gained prominence in Ghana’s political discourse, becoming a focal point of public attention and media coverage. This political phenomenon represents a growing movement or party that has significantly grown in both momentum and influence within the country’s political arena.

The New Force positions itself as a disruptive force and seeks to challenge the established political order, offering promises of change and reform.

Recently, the New Force was revealed to be led by Nana Kwame Bediako. He rallies other Ghanaians around him with a shared dissatisfaction with the existing political status quo.

The ascendancy of the New Force can be attributed to a confluence of factors, including a growing disillusionment with traditional political parties, heightened demands for transparency and accountability, and a yearning for innovative ideas and governance approaches.

But it looks like the movement is not enough to disrupt the current status quo according to Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga, Communication Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region.

Speaking to Mark Smith on the Day Break Upper East Show on A1 Radio, Mr. Ayinbisa Ayamga explained that the leader of the New Force has not done enough to resonate with voters in the country and cannot affect the outcome of the election.

“He has a daunting task to be able to make any significant inroads into the political landscape of our country. In our history, no new political party that has been formed has ever made serious gains. You can name Papa Kwesi Nduom and the wife of the late former President, Jerry John Rawlings. I don’t have any problem with a third force,” he said.

Mr. Ayinbisa Ayamga added that the New Force’s program dubbed The Convention that was slated to happen may have had some sinister intentions, which is why the government stopped its occurrence.

Additionally, the NPP’s Upper East Regional Communications Director stressed that the emergence of the New Force does nothing to affect the results the NPP is expected to achieve in the general election expected to happen later this year.
