The Bolgatanga High Court has quashed an application for an injunction against the acclamation of Abdulai Abanga, incumbent MP for Binduri and now, Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP in the area.

It would be recalled that the process to popularly acclaim Mr. Abanga hit a snag when Alex Avoka, an interested party, went to court seeking to overturn his disqualification from the race. Mr. Avoka maintained that his disqualification was baseless.

In a statement signed by Elvis Awonekai Atia, the Upper East Regional Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), it was communicated that the acclamation would be held on February 4, 2024.

“Please be informed that the High Court, Bolgatanga presided over by His Lordship Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh JA, Court of Appeal Judge sitting as an Additional High Court Judge, has dismissed the application for injunction against the acclamation of the within-named NPP Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate (APC) for the Binduri Constituency this day, the 2nd February 2024, with cost of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 20,000.00). Accordingly, the acclamation of the APC shall come off as follows: Date: Sunday, the 4th February 2024, Time: 9:00 am Prompt, Venue: Astro Turf Pitch at Bawksapelig near Binduri.”

“By this letter the Regional Police Command, the Divisional Police Command, the District Police Command and District Director of the EC are hereby invited to attend for the acclamation. You are assured of the provision of maximum security and all other necessary logistics in this regard,” the statement read.
