The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has unveiled plans to host a prestigious farming award scheme in collaboration with Akuafo Nketewa, slated for April 17th and 18th.
The initiative aims to honor and recognize the unwavering dedication and pivotal contributions of hardworking farmers and agribusinesses towards the growth and development of the agricultural sector in Ghana.
In an exclusive interview with A1 Radio, Dr. Charles Nyaaba, the Chief Executive Officer of Akuafo-Nketewa, shed light on the core objectives behind this collaborative effort.
Dr. Nyaaba emphasized the urgent need to rekindle enthusiasm for farming, introduce innovative agricultural products, and inspire unemployed youth to perceive farming as a lucrative entrepreneurial endeavor.
He articulated that the award scheme aims to propel the agricultural sector forward by fostering innovation, sustainability, and economic empowerment.
The event, set to take place in Navrongo within the Kassena Nankana Municipality, is anticipated to draw over five thousand farmers and esteemed guests from across the nation.
It will serve as a pivotal platform for stakeholders within the agricultural value chain to converge, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for collaboration and growth.
The PFAG-Akuafo Nketewa farming award scheme encompasses various categories designed to celebrate excellence and innovation across the agricultural landscape. The Awards will be presented to outstanding farmers who have demonstrated exceptional productivity, sustainable practices, and community impact.
Dr. Nyaaba further explained the significance of leveraging such platforms to bridge the gap between agricultural producers and consumers, thereby enhancing market access and profitability for farmers.
He underscored the role of innovation in driving agricultural transformation, asserting that initiatives like the farming award scheme serve as catalysts for innovation and sustainable growth within the sector.
The event will present a unique opportunity for agribusinesses to showcase their products and services, forge strategic partnerships, and access new markets, as well as foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing to unleash the full potential of Ghana’s agricultural sector, driving economic growth, food security, and rural development.
