Navrongo Central MP commiserates with family of Late John Tia

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, Sampson Tangobu, expressed profound sorrow over the demise of the former Member of Parliament for Talensi and Minister of Information under the John Evans Atta Mills Administration, John Tia.

Mr. Tangobu described his passing as a significant loss not only to the region but to the entire party.

“He was a cadre and has contributed immensely to the party and the region as a whole. Not only that, at this time of the year, we have lost seven former MPs as a party, and it is not good at all. Mr. Tia was among the 30 members of the Council of Elders within the party,” he added.

According to Mr. Tangobu, the late minister held various roles within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), serving as both a regional campaign team member of the John Mahama campaign and as one of the esteemed 30 members of the Council of Elders within the party.

He emphasized the invaluable contribution the late minister made to grassroots politics, highlighting his role as a dependable figure relied upon by the party in the upcoming elections.

The MP lamented that the sudden demise of the former minister had dealt a severe blow not just to his family but also to the NDC as a whole.

Mr. Tangobu noted the extensive experience and influence wielded by the deceased, which had a profound impact on the party’s strategies and operations in the upcoming elections.

Sources close to the family revealed that the former minister passed away in Bolgatanga after a brief illness.

At the age of 69, his legacy as a stalwart in Ghanaian politics remains indelible, with tributes pouring in from across the political spectrum.
